PLEASE NOTE: There naturally are certain limitations to what we are able to print onto what medium and by what method. If there are any potential issues we foresee or if we are unable to create your design as per your request, we will contact you via email or by telephone to inform you of the situation and either suggest alternative manufacture methods, mediums, colors, or changes to your design with your approval prior to fulfilling your order in order to ensure a successful and quality creation. If we are unable to produce your design, we will provide you with an immediate full refund of the item.

We offer two different production methods; Sublimation and Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV).

Sublimation is the process in which high quality sublimation inks are printed onto a special paper using a specialized sublimation printer. The paper with the printed design is then applied to the item, and through a proprietary process, the inks are converted into a gas while in contact with the item under pressure. The inks are absorbed into the surface of the item while in their gaseous state and then immediately converted back into their liquid state and cured. The end result is the ink embedded into the material, rather than merely being printed onto the exterior surface. This means the design becomes part of the material and cannot be washed off and will not fade under normal conditions, resulting in a superior product.

Sublimation is the preferred method for multi-color designs and designs with fine detail. Sublimation does have some limitations. The inks are only visible on white or very light colored backgrounds and therefore cannot be printed onto dark colored fabrics or substrates. In addition, there is no white ink in sublimation. Any white colored parts of the design will be the color of the substrate. For example, if a design includes white objects and is sublimated into a light blue fabric, the objects in the design that are supposed to be white will be light blue (the fabric color) after sublimation. If you choose sublimation for your preferred manufacture method and your design includes white color, be sure to choose a white substrate to ensure the final product will look like your design. Also, sublimation is not compatible with natural fibers such as cotton. Therefore sublimation can only be done with synthetic fabrics such as polyester or with special coated ceramics or metals such as sublimation mugs, tumblers, vinyl, etc, which we offer in our store.

Heat transfer vinyl (HTV) is the preferred method for designs which comprise 3 or less colors and designs which are more simple such as text and/or simple images and is the method of choice when special features in the design are desired such as shiny metallic foil, and other textile attributes that cannot be accomplished with sublimation. The manufacture process involves uploading the design as a vector to a special machine called a plotter/cutter. The cutter then cuts the design into a sheet of high quality colored vinyl. Heat transfer vinyl is available in a wide variety of colors and patterns including, fluorescent, glow in the dark, glitter, metallic foil, and even patterns such as animal prints, tie dye, etc. After the design is cut into the vinyl, the unwanted parts of the vinyl that is not part of the design are removed by hand through an intricate process called weeding. After all of the unwanted parts of the vinyl are weeded from the sheet, the design is then transferred to the substrate in a machine called a heat press which uses both heat and pressure to transfer the vinyl onto the surface of the substrate. The finished product is a beautiful design that is durable and looks great. On fabric it remains soft and flexible, yet will last through many multiple washes and of course is machine washable in cold or warm water and should be tumble dried on low heat or no heat setting or line dried if you prefer.

Whichever method or medium you choose, you can be sure of a high quality finished product produced and packaged with care exclusively from Right Designs ™.
